Our 2024 Highlights

Celebrating Our Team's Hard Work, Community Engagement, and Exciting Work!

Our busy, hard-working Bookings Team!

The last few months have been a whirlwind for our bookings team! From managing last-minute requests to preparing for major events like political conferences, we’ve been working around the clock to ensure smooth service delivery. We’re incredibly proud of and grateful for the hard work and dedication of our team. A massive thank you to all our Communication Professionals for your dedication and hard work. We recently faced a challenging period where several patients required daily ward round support in different hospitals, alongside our regular bookings. Your flexibility and commitment ensured that we could support as many service users as possible. Thank you!

Thank you to the Co-op Bank Customer Donation Fund!

Funded by the Co-op Bank, we held a series of strategy events in the North West for our Deaf pioneer members to share their ideas for the future. This is a first in Deaf users directly influencing the direction of their community-owned business.

We then moved onto our Access Circle events involving the whole community to discuss the Accessible Information Standard (AIS). Robin Ash from SignHealth joined us to discuss the impact of AIS and the importance of raising accessibility concerns. Olive introduced our publicly available Deaf Resources Pack, encouraging everyone to share their service experiences to drive positive change.

We then met to discuss Communication Professionals & our service. Day from our Bookings Team gave a presentation on Signalise’s work and processes to support Deaf patients. Discussions included preference lists for communication professionals, giving members more control over their appointments, and strengthening the vital links between healthcare providers, Deaf patients, and communication professionals.

Business and Development Manager, Jen Bird, said of the funding:

“We are very grateful for the funding provided by the Co-op Bank as it will enable us to host more community events with our members, improve awareness and ultimately grow as a co-operative.

Signalise’s strength is in its members and the work we do collectively, as deaf people, interpreters and other professionals to break down barriers. We are building a high quality and high-value service for all our users and customers and these events will help shape the future of our co-operative.” See how Co-op News reported on this story here and keep an eye on our website and social media for more events in the future.
