We are delighted to announce that Signalise has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories of the 2025 UK Social Enterprise Awards.
Run by Social Enterprise UK, the Awards celebrate the leading lights in our sector, showcasing diversity and impact across 15 categories.
Signalise is one of six finalists in the category ‘Social Enterprise Building Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Justice Award’, and one of six finalists in the ‘Tech For Good: Technology Social Enterprise of the Year’ sponsored by Mitie.
Being shortlisted is a huge endorsement of our work and a massive boost for our hardworking team and co-operative members.
Since starting in 2019 we’ve provided near 100% fulfillment on NHS bookings across 14 NHS Trusts, supplying high quality professionals to over 500 Deaf users and providing a 24/7/365 service to users via our community-owned booking platform and video service. We also provide our service to other sectors including other social enterprises and are expanding our reach nationally.
We know that our co-operative model works, and our tech delivers vital additional benefits to Deaf users that no other service delivers.
As a result commissioners gain added social value from higher attendance at appointments, a reduction in health inequalities and a removal of barriers that Deaf people have faced for decades.
Social enterprises are businesses that trade for a social or environmental purpose, and reinvest at least half their profits to further that mission. There are around 131,000 social enterprises in the UK, employing 2.3 million people, and we’re delighted to be recognised as one of the best in this pioneering business movement.
Our Business Development Manager Jen Bird says, “We are the first co-operative of Deaf users and Sign Language professionals globally. Our unique ways of working with all users involved takes out the middle man and brings the value back to services and commissioners that is much needed in our economy. Every pioneer member should be incredibly proud to have put Deaf users at the forefront of innovative services where we are driving forward change in systems that have long held Deaf people back.”
Jen and our Outreach Worker Olive are looking forward to joining other finalists at the awards ceremony at the Southbank Centre, London on the 26th November. Tickets are on sale now to join us!
