About me
I am a NRCPD registered Lipspeaker and Electronic Notetaker (Live Captioner) with 22 years experience. I'm also a Stagetext qualified Theatre Captioner with Level 6 BSL. I can provide live, unscripted captioning for meetings and events and scripted or semi-scripted captioning for musical or theatrical performances. My captions can be delivered for in-person, hybrid or fully online events. Depending on the venue and event set-up, captions may be displayed on fixed or mobile screens, letterbox units, or streamed to audience members’ personal devices via QR codes. Options are selected to suit the technical environment and the needs of the event, rather than a single standard approach. For conference and event settings, live captions can also be made available with Google-generated multilingual translation, allowing international audiences to view captions in a range of languages alongside the original English. I have extensive experience of providing individual communication support in legal settings (first diets, interim diets and full trials) at all levels of the court system throughout Scotland. Education, medical and Access to Work bookings can also be accommodated, with lipspeaking, live captioning or a combination of both where needed.
