Starting from 1st May, we have a new contract with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. What makes this announcement even more special is that we announced it on 28th April which was the first anniversary of the passing of the BSL Act in parliament.
We also applaud the work done by Rosie Cooper, who played an instrumental role in bringing the BSL Act through parliament. Rosie was the MP for West Lancashire at the time and nw serves as the Chair of the Trust. We are proud to have a new working relationship with Mersey Care a this important time.
At Signalise Co-op, we are a community-owned business made up of Deaf people and communication professionals who are passionate about empowering the Deaf community. We believe that every Deaf person deserves access to services in British Sign Language (BSL) if this is their preferred language.
Since 2021, we have been delivering services to primary care and acute trusts across Merseyside and Cheshire. With this new partnership, we will be able to extend our services to support more community and mental health services, providing greater continuity of care and better delivery across the region. This will benefit not only the Deaf community but also support the Trust and its staff.
We are thrilled to be working with Mersey Care to support them to make their services accessible to the Deaf community and to work together on our shared aims.
We are now delivering services to:
GPs in: Liverpool Place, Knowsley Place, South Sefton Place and Southport and Formby Place.
Other NHS Trusts: Wirral Community, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals, Liverpool Heart and Chest, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centres, The Walton Centre, Mersey Care.
