Why We've Moved from Twitter/X to Bluesky

We started 2025 with a move from Twitter/X to Bluesky. This shift comes after careful consideration of where we, as a brand, feel most aligned in terms of ethics, safety, and community values. We’ve also noticed that some communication professionals, Deaf people and Deaf organisations are also making moves to BlueSky.

A More Ethical and Safe Space

Over the past few years, Twitter/X has undergone significant changes, many of which have raised concerns about content moderation, misinformation, and user safety. As a platform, it has become an increasingly volatile space, where accessibility and inclusivity often take a backseat to algorithm-driven engagement.

For a service that centres around accessibility and Deaf inclusion, it is vital that the platforms we use reflect our commitment to a safe, ethical, and inclusive digital environment. Bluesky, with its focus on decentralisation and user control, offers a refreshing alternative. Its open-source model and community-driven approach create a space where users have greater agency over their social media experience.

Aligning with Our Brand Values

Our mission has always been to improve accessibility, reduce inefficiencies in booking interpreters, and support the Deaf community in accessing essential services. This means working within fair, transparent systems that foster meaningful connections.

Bluesky’s user-driven moderation aligns with our values, allowing communities to set their own guidelines. This fosters better discussions on accessibility and inclusion.

The Shift Among Communication Professionals

We have also noticed, since we moved, that there is a growing trend within the interpreter and Deaf community—many professionals are choosing to leave Twitter/X in favour of platforms like Bluesky. This migration highlights a collective desire for safer and more thoughtful online engagement. For Deaf users and interpreters alike, having a space where important discussions about accessibility, advocacy, and professional ethics can thrive without the toxicity that has come to define Twitter/X is essential.

As more interpreters and Deaf users shift towards Bluesky, it makes sense for us to be there too. Our presence should be where our community feels most comfortable engaging in meaningful conversation.

Our move to Bluesky is not just about switching platforms—it’s about reaffirming our commitment to ethical digital engagement and development of services that are #TechForGood.
